These influences laid a strong foundation, inspiring Susana to later dedicate herself to painting.
With years of devoted practice, Susana has perfected techniques like fluid acrylics and oil painting. Her inspiration is drawn from the natural world around her: the vibrant colors of sunsets, the rhythm of ocean waves, and the intensity of tropical storms. Her art reflects a connection to Costa Rica’s identity and culture, bringing these elements to life with her signature dynamic and colorful compositions.
A Journey Rooted in Passion and Cultural Fusion
Her journey as an artist began at a young age, making crafts alongside her sister, which sparked her curiosity and led her to explore multiple artistic mediums. This self-directed path allowed her to blend traditional influences with modern methods, resulting in unique creations celebrated both in Costa Rica and internationally. In addition has exhibited virtually in several galleries in Canada, Los Angeles USA and Paraguay. One of her standout works, Armonía Guaraní, Ecos de la Mujer Paraguaya, incorporates the traditional Ñandutí lace motifs into a fluid acrylic composition, symbolizing her Paraguayan heritage. This meaningful piece was donated to the Paraguayan Embassy in Costa Rica, further solidifying her ties to both cultures.

Susana Rubinstein’s international acclaim recently reached new heights with her collaboration with Tommy Bahama, part of their 2024 Artist Series. The piece she contributed, Tropical Beauty, honors Costa Rica’s national orchid and showcases the country’s lush biodiversity. This collaboration marks an exciting milestone in her career, demonstrating her ability to translate nature’s beauty into captivating works of art, further amplifying her profile on the global stage.
A Series of Prestigious Exhibitions
Susana’s art has gained international attention, earning her spots in renowned exhibitions worldwide. In 2024, she was featured at the fourth Awakening of Environmental Awareness by the internationally recognized Management Company Daniela Rossi. Held in Costa Rica in April 2024 This event showcased over 70 artists and 80 artworks focused on raising environmental awareness, and in November it will participate in the Fifth Awakening of Environmental Awareness in Córdoba Argentina.
At Costa Rica’s Juan Santamaría International Airport, Susana exhibited 14 abstract floral pieces, welcoming international visitors to experience Costa Rica’s vibrant beauty through her art. She also took part in the Bienal Internacional de Arte Postal in Brazil and Mexico, celebrating poetry and artistic expression across Latin America.
Her work was featured in the International Peace Forum in Lodz, Poland. This event held special meaning, connecting Susana’s art to her Rubinstein heritage. She also participated in the 10th International Art Festival in South Korea, donating a piece to the Haegeumgang Theme Museum. A smaller replica was gifted to the South Korean Embassy in Costa Rica, strengthening cultural ties between the two countries.
Susana has also been active in Costa Rican exhibitions. Her work in the Certamen Nacional Ana Ulate de Artes Visuales, inspired by Costa Rican poetry, celebrates her connection to local culture.
